This was a day-turn I pitched based partly on something I’d observed in my daily life: The rapid rise in e-bikes and scooters zipping around NYC – and the many stories of deadly fires cause by their batteries. I managed to snag a last-minute interview with the Commissioner of the FDNY who happened to be in Washington D.C. that day lobbying for new regulations on that exact topic, so it was perfect timing.
